Hey Reader,

Happy Monday 👋🏻

As I walked eastward into the morning sun with the neighborhood school on my left— I transcended into thought as my morning podcast flowed through my ears.

What does the future of work look like, how does it play into the vast business landscape as we know it, and why the hell should it matter to me?

We live in a digital world, obviously. When we peel back the curtain on it, though, winning people comes down to one thing.

Persuasion.

The Matrix. World. Community. Cohort— whatever you want to call it, it’s filled with buyers, sellers, and communicators aching to move you in one direction or another.

You see. The art of persuasion sits atop a skill stack (which I'm about to share) and is crucial for your digital business growth.

01. Storytelling.

There are various storytelling formats, including long-form, short-form, and video. When it comes to growing your business, the important factors to master are determining the story to tell, selecting the appropriate format (as mentioned above), and choosing the right platform to showcase that story.

(First) Ideate and ask yourself:

  • What makes me or my business unique?
  • What skills do I possess to make an impact?
  • What benefit will the person I’m communicating with get from this?
  • Are there enough people out there with the same issue?

THEN, put it into action.

  • Publish short-form stories to social media around your topic interests (this could be a big idea, challenge, relevant topic, controversial issues, or education)
  • Move this audience into your long-form story through blogs, podcasts, newsletters, webinars, or YouTube Videos (this is called nurturing— do this consistently to build a library of trust)
  • Use a storytelling ratio (once they’re in your owned audience) of 3 parts value to 1 part invitation to explore your paid options. (Meaning— give away education, resources, or thought processes before asking someone to buy).

(Pro Tip) A story or transformation is composed of 3 things. (as learned from Dan Koe):

  1. A burning problem.
  2. A desirable outcome.
  3. A clear solution.

02. Graphic Design.

This skill is important as it helps break down complex topics, thoughts, and processes.

Use it to:

  • Create a cadence of you or your business to program people to recognize you.
  • Deliver value in a quick and meaningful way.
  • Peak interest through design.

03. Web Design.

The human mind thrives off of order and chaos. Most of the time, it’s taking chaos and ordering it. Web design is an important tool to help your character navigate their own chaos.

Use it to:

  • Turn (your own) chaotic information into uniform flows of information.
  • Elevate your perception.
  • Increase SEO value by properly structuring H1’s, H2’s, H3’s, and body copy.

04. Copywriting.

Web design helps organize chaos for the mind to process, while copywriting triggers emotional states and influences buying decisions through "dopamine hits.”

Use it as a superpower to:

  • Sell the concept, not the thing.
  • Shape perception.
  • Fuel sales & conversion.
  • Lead a buying journey empathetically.

05. Video Creation.

View this skill as a vessel. After mastering the top 4 skills, think of this as brand rocket fuel. There are 4 things that matter most when you go to make a unique and engaging video.

  • Lighting = perception. If it’s not lit well, people will view you as inexperienced.
  • Audio = clarity. If people can’t hear you well, you lose the essence of what you’re trying to communicate.
  • Camera = personality. If you’re subject matter doesn’t have personality, you won’t gain the attention.
  • Editing = engagement. If it doesn’t flow and have structure, you’ll get turned off. Quickly.

06. Email Marketing.

I believe email is the most valuable tool. Why? It hasn’t changed in decades and isn’t plagued by algorithmic changes.

Just you and the user you’re communicating with 1:1. Do a great job of authentically getting an email address, and you unlock a raving fan for life.

Use it to:

  • Build long-term trust.
  • Drive traffic.
  • Segment users into different offers.
  • Further, build your audience.

07. Social Media.

Social Media is a game. Play it well, and you can change your life forever. Remember, people come to social media to escape reality.

When they leave, they enter the virtual or digital reality, where each person has a “piece of real estate.” By playing and winning, you expose and grow your piece of real estate, thus furthering your reach and getting people into your long-form narrative or “Property” (as we talked about in story-telling).

To win, think about why people are leaving the real world.

They want to be:

  • Entertained
  • Reminded
  • Educated.

They do not want to be:

  • Sold
  • Told
  • Spammed

Keep these in mind when making content.

That’s it for this one. It’s already been way to long.

I hope you enjoyed it.

Hey Reader, Happy Monday 👋🏻 Writing this newsletter has brought a lot of clarity to how I approach perception, presentation, and positioning. It turns out that positioning, perception, and presentation mean a lot more than I ever thought. For example: Positioning = Opens the door to being the right fit for someone's needs. Perception = Gets people in the door by aligning with their needs. Presentation = Slams the door shut behind that person and helps them move forward with you. Sounds...

Hey Reader, Happy Monday 👋🏻 I've had quite a few chats with business professionals, and I like to think I'm pretty plugged into the marketing/ content world. One thing that keeps popping up in these conversations is the thought of building personal brands. You know, build an audience of hundreds of thousands, start a membership program, post a sh*t load of content, and then sail off into the Maldives only to work 2 hours a day atop of your empire. At least, that's how these mega-creators make...

All of that to say, today's newsletter will be sharing some insight into our new year and what my entrepreneurial journey will hold for the year 2024. What Can You Expect From Me Weekly? My...
