How people percieve you: 3 little things that make a big impact.

Hey Reader,

Happy Monday πŸ‘‹πŸ»

Writing this newsletter has brought a lot of clarity to how I approach perception, presentation, and positioning.

It turns out that positioning, perception, and presentation mean a lot more than I ever thought.

For example:

  • Positioning = Opens the door to being the right fit for someone's needs.
  • Perception = Gets people in the door by aligning with their needs.
  • Presentation = Slams the door shut behind that person and helps them move forward with you.

Sounds simple, right? Wrong.

Most people (myself included) and businesses miss the mark on these crucial components of human psychology and then wonder why people aren't buying, engaging, or moving forward. (To name a few)

Why is this?

I'll give you a few of my reasons why (I think) I failed in the past to have success in business and personally (So I don't point fingers) ;)

  • Being unaware that people are after their self-interest. Not understanding this thought process harmed my ability to sell at higher prices, as I was unintentionally positioned as a commodity.
  • Not being able to speak the correct language throughout my marketing efforts. I had to learn that humans move on shared frequencies through tribes and communities. If they don't perceive you or your business as something to support that shared frequency, you're sh*t out of luck.
  • I was all over the place with the work that I was doing, leading to poor presentation. (Understanding the top 2 bullets helps compress, chizzle, and mold great presentation)

What's the point here?

If you're anything like me and constantly think about doing better and being better, then get frustrated when it feels like it's not going fast enough, take a deep look into how you and/or your business are being positioned, perceived, and presented by:

  • Taking time to connect with people who are 2 steps ahead of you. Through this exercise, you can gain clarity on how you or your business is actively perceived and positioned.
  • Practice writing a postioning statement. Here is a link to help get you started. (The great part is that you can use this personally and for business)
  • Practice the skills of graphic design, copywriting, and speech. Continually doing this will evolve all three (Positioning, perception, and presentation)

As a side note, no matter what anyone says, it will take years of evolution, and that's okay. I used to never really understand the "Fall in love with the journey." quote, but as I've gotten older, the more I relish in just letting progress be progress.

I hope this helps, and I will see you next week!

All the best,

Sean

Hey Reader, Happy Monday πŸ‘‹πŸ» I've had quite a few chats with business professionals, and I like to think I'm pretty plugged into the marketing/ content world. One thing that keeps popping up in these conversations is the thought of building personal brands. You know, build an audience of hundreds of thousands, start a membership program, post a sh*t load of content, and then sail off into the Maldives only to work 2 hours a day atop of your empire. At least, that's how these mega-creators make...

Hey Reader, Happy Monday πŸ‘‹πŸ» First, I wanted to take a moment and acknowledge the past holiday season. I hope you had a wonderful holiday with loved ones, friends, and family alike. I took the past two weeks off of the newsletter to reset, recharge, and take some time to gain clarity on the new year ahead. All of that to say, today's newsletter will be sharing some insight into our new year and what my entrepreneurial journey will hold for the year 2024. What Can You Expect From Me Weekly? My...

How to be consistent.

Hey Reader,, Happy Tuesday πŸ‘‹πŸ» Mega musicians play the same song over and over. Multi-billion dollar cruise liners and airlines travel the same plot points (weather permitting). Fast food juggernauts like McDonalds have been serving the same damn burger since 1940. Yet, here, most of us fall somewhere in middle America. Why can’t all of us have generational wealth, and why is it so damn hard? Is it political climate? Is it by a universal design? Is it the influence of shiny object syndrome?...
