Hey Reader,

Happy Monday 👋🏻

I've been thinking about whether content creation is even worth it for marketing efforts.

Then I remembered this one phone call I had. It would be a call that would set me up for success throughout my career. So read on...

There I was...

On a call with a higher-up at a $100 million E-commerce brand.

At 23, I was honestly out for a job and putting my network feelers out. I entered through a LinkedIn direct message, wondering if I would get a response.

What I learned through that call wasn't just an eye-opening experience but a peek into how top growth marketers operate.

The things this gentleman shared with me blew over my head at the time, but as I reflect upon it now at 30, they are pivotal for business growth. I'd love to share them with you.

Niche Communities Accelerate Business. Fast.

I love motorcycles. Dirt, street, and anything in between. This brand was in the space, so I reached out after a few hours of content consumption.

But why?

You see, the brand had already aligned with me. It had primed me to be a raving fan because of the content I was consuming from it. It was prompting me to move in. Discover. Engage. Take Action.

The takeaway?

  • Define who you're talking to.
  • Be passionate about that niche.
  • Talk about it frequently across different formats and platforms.

Invest In Organic Growth. Now.

I presume you'd like to build business value. I mean, who wouldn't? Whether you are trying to scale and sell. Build a legacy brand for your kids. Or, maybe want to be a Solopreneur.

The topic of advertising vs. organic growth can be saved for another day. I will say that, for the most part, "advertising" equals renting an audience, while organic growth equals long-term value.

The gentleman I spoke with laid out the differences simply and shared this wise quote.

"He who owns the audience owns the narrative and opens limitless possibilities."

"Imagine you have 100k subscribers that you've built connections with, can have metaphorical heart-to-heart 1:1 conversations with, and will buy continuously because they're invested in you versus an audience you have to pay to buy from you."

Which one would you rather have long-term? My bet? Organic growth.

Numbers Never Lie. Ever.

What I'm about to share with you will blow your mind. It blew mine.

During our conversation, they invested roughly $2 Million annually in organic growth across social platforms, collaborations, YouTube, and partnerships.

He told me that their YouTube attribution model showed that per 1,000 views, they make $1.50.

Can you guess how many views they have today? 364,096,449.

While this translates to only $546,144.68, we must remind ourselves that this is only YouTube Revenue. Can you imagine how much they are making off the affiliation of their organic content marketing efforts? I'm sure it's unbelievable.

Of course, as founders, creatives, and marketers, we have to take this with a grain of salt.

But the takeaway here still holds merit.

  • Find your passion.
  • Find your niche.
  • Talk about it often across different formats and platforms.
  • Use one part science (research & hypothesize), one part creative (be original & personable), and one part business (Monetize it often).

Simple enough, right? 🙄

If you're curious about who the brand is. It's RevZilla. Here is the business profile.

Hey Reader, Happy Monday 👋🏻 Writing this newsletter has brought a lot of clarity to how I approach perception, presentation, and positioning. It turns out that positioning, perception, and presentation mean a lot more than I ever thought. For example: Positioning = Opens the door to being the right fit for someone's needs. Perception = Gets people in the door by aligning with their needs. Presentation = Slams the door shut behind that person and helps them move forward with you. Sounds...

Hey Reader, Happy Monday 👋🏻 I've had quite a few chats with business professionals, and I like to think I'm pretty plugged into the marketing/ content world. One thing that keeps popping up in these conversations is the thought of building personal brands. You know, build an audience of hundreds of thousands, start a membership program, post a sh*t load of content, and then sail off into the Maldives only to work 2 hours a day atop of your empire. At least, that's how these mega-creators make...
